The Day The Clown Cried -- Jerry Lewis' dream project about a circus clown in Auschwitz has never been released. Jerry starred and directed.
Actor who got the part: Jerry Lewis
Wait a minute. Why is that listed? He PLAYED the character. The project just fizzled out. Because... ummm... it was A NAZI CLOWN FILM.

And until now I didn't realize the Nazi clown's name was Helmut Doork. And his wife's name was Ada Doork. Huh. Not so German. Doork! Doork! Doork!

Selma Blair
Selma told MTV that she would love to play Lois Lane.
Oh, they also accept people saying they'd like to play a character but did not officially pursue it? Well I'd like to play Batman. Do I get on the list now?
Hayden Christensen
According to India's National Newspaper "The Hindu," Hayden Christensen was rejected for the role of Superman.
There is justice in the world.

After all the children go into the chamber, he is so filled with remorse for what he has done that he goes into the room himself to entertain them. The probable reason why he does this is that he wished to take back all the bad things he had done, but according to one of the few that have seen the film, it may have been for his own ego. As the children laugh while he performs, every one of them dies quietly of the effects of Zyklon B.
No possible remark of mine could top this.

I feel like some of these have to be jokes.
Consider:
O.J. Simpson in The Terminator?
Passed over for the role of the terminator because producers feared he wouldn't be taken seriously as a killer.
