Why is kotaku clear on the other side of the map from 1up.com? And I haven't heard of half of these websites. What is the layout supposed to help us explain?

The subway map is from the Tokyo Train system. The placement of each site sorta seems grouped categorically, but not very well IMHO.
So essentially, nothing. Just an interesting presentation of popular websites.

"300 of the most influential and successful websites and pinned them down to the greater Tokyo-area train map"

The correlation is "If I make it look like a subway map, it'll get featured on the most popular blog, because one of the writers there is completely gobsmacked with data presented in the form of a subway system mash up."
The only way to insure it was featured on boingboing any more was to somehow include either steampunk or disney world.

Really? Because placing Xanga between Pandora and Second Life makes absolutely no sense to me. And that was one of the more understandable neighborhoods.

Is it wrong of me to breath a sigh of relief at being unable to find most of my favorite sites on here?
