The audio is interesting. She sounds like a posturing, rabid gasbag. But this post is atrocious, as it says nothing regarding what the hell is actually being contested nor is there any background info that one can get to without the blog links. Try a bit harder.

Guess where she attends worship services?

That's right! Because if there is one thing that history has shown us, it's that being willfully ignorant about something is the key to making successful and good decisions on that topic.

I think that bit of guilt-by-association might just be the nail in this thread's coffin, scoo.

I don't think that it's a matter of guilt-by-association so much as a reminder that being a member of the same church as them doesn't necessarily confer any similarities.

This, from a Democrat.

And?

Do you really think that being a Democrat means that someone can't be a complete shitbag?

Because I have a list I could post.

Sadly, the is no such thing as being too dumb for IL politics. This is not an uncommon position in her constituents, so there's nothing to stop her from spouting it. If you watch Obama's call to renewal speech he deals with some of the tension between the faith-based African-American community and the more secular progressive community.

CUZ EVERYONE KNOWS DEMOCRATS ARE ATHEIST BABYKILLERZ. AND REPUBLICANS ARE JESUS-LOVING FOOT-TAPPIN' WIDE STANCE PEDERASTS. BLACK AND WHITE, AMIRITE?

I, for one, think the post is worthwhile, though it could use some links to some background information. If I were one of Davis' constituents I'd already be halfway through composing a nasty letter.

Thanks, Scoo, for the informative link.

A single link to an outraged blogger quoting some minor politician. Yeah, this is great quality stuff right here.

Bonus (negative) points for implying that there is something odd or wrong about being Democrat and a Christian.

My parsing of Scoo's editorializing was apparently completely different from yours. The point isn't that Davis is a Christian, it's that Davis is a bigoted throwback. There is definitely something both odd and wrong about a politician saying that children shouldn't know that atheists exist.

This, from a Democrat.

And?

The Democratic Party brand is all about inclusiveness and hugs for everyone, and Rep. Davis' tirade was totally off-brand.

As a resident of Illinois, I can guarantee you that atheism isn't what's destroying the state.

It's potholes. Millions of them.

And?

And theocratic biblethumpers who are afraid of their own shadow, let alone Invisible Sky Daddy, generally flock to a different party.

Here's the thing: She's pissed off because her little push for a "moment of silence" (which, according to some, is equivalent to forced prayer) in school resulted in a lawsuit that her side lost.

So, basically, the link is just a sore winner whining about a sore loser.

Hey "Friendly Atheist," you beat the end boss! It's time to put down the controller and step out into the sunlight!

It's appalling that a Democrat would condemn an atheist. But it's hardly surprising that she'd turn out to be an idiot. Stupid people can get elected from either party, especially if your constituency thinks religion and skin color are litmus issues. Having grown up with Marion Barry on the news most nights, corrupt urban democrats seem like the norm. As opposed to corrupt and stupid rural republicans.
