Drop Dead, Gorgeous

On October 27th 1978, the first brutal murder at the sleepy town of Saylor Lake occurred at approximately 1:15AM. Its rolling green hillsides, tight-knit community and quaint town square wouldn't know for almost a year the full scale of the events of October 27th, nor would anyone in Saylor Lake know what was to come. Worse Than a Fairy Tale

Denver's Drop Dead, Gorgeous released this concept album based around the Saylor Lake murders last fall. Each intense, post-hardcore song connects the pieces of the puzzle, and you have the opportunity to decipher the mystery through this multimedia experience.

Attractive young women brutally, but oh so creatively, raped and murdered. What an original concept.

To save other people the trouble of looking it up, it's entirely fictional. The wording of the post can give the impression it's based on a real thing.

It's like an ARG without the effort.

Yeeeeaaaaah. Thanks. I think I'm gonna go ahead and not do that. That'd be great.

Can someone explain to me what "post-hardcore" means? Sounds like it should be kleenex and browser-history flush.

'Worse than a fairy tale'? My whole life has been worse than a fairy tale.

(Post-hardcore means: sounds like Fugazi)

First this, and now this? Netbros isn't having a good week in MeFiLand.

Would I be hating too much if I said that this album really sounds like crap? Well, I don't care. It sucks. So did having my browser window resized.

The victim's throat was slit, no other sign of struggle.

Don't struggle netbros, it'll all be over quickly if you just cooperate.

It's a very nicely designed site, but I can't get past the fact that

a. the music is atrocious
b. the fetishisation of violence against women

Who exactly is this being marketed to? I'm sure angsty teenage mysogynists love imagining all the pretty girls who rejected (either directly or out of projected self loathing) them being murdered as punishment for being so pretty, satisfying both their angry frustration and confused attraction to women, but angry boys generally don't listen to chick fronted rock bands. I guess dopey teen girls love the whole 'i'm a dead girl lol X_x ' thing, but even this seems a bit too adversarial to their gender for such appeal. Maybe I'm out of touch with what the kids are into these days.
