"Long before the internet, very boring people created very boring home videos. Thanks to cheap bandwidth and fast internet connections, these people are not only able to share their horrid disasters with the rest of the world, but they are actually encouraged to make more! The Webcam Ward is staffed with the finest internet guardians, all ready and willing to draw a line in the sand and shame the shameless into video retirement." [Multi-link Something Awful, NSFW]

Webcam Ward is brought to you by the same people behind retsupurae which, along with ChipCheezum, has been making ruthless fun of the worst Let's Play videos, flash games and random garbage the web has to offer since 2008. [MLYT, NSFW]

You know, I'm really tired of pointing and laughing at people. Don't we have anything better to do?

I apparently have higher than average standards when it comes to making fun of idiots.

Socially awkward people, being made fun of by possibly even more socially awkward people, being made fun of by... Mefites.

I'll say no more.

Long before the internet, very boring people created very boring home videos

The Internet started anywhere between 1973 and 1984, depending on your interpretation of what comprises it's invention. Within similarly loose boundaries of definition, the World Wide Web and it's HTML page structure came into being in between 1989 and 1993.

However, none of the videos linked to in the FPP seem to pre-date those two milestones.

Webcam Ward pretty much sums up how getting paid for something you used to do for fun sucks out all the humor of it

The retsupurae stuff was pretty fun, but I couldn't stand watching more than a few of these.

I initially flinched at the schadenfreude too, but the gay rights video made me laugh. Plus, many of these people seem to deserve to be mocked.

About the same as MST3k. Actually... now that I think of it, it's exactly the same. Lots of those B, C, and D movies tried very hard to espouse some kind of bizarre worldview while simultaneously failing to make a passable movie. If Cecil B. DeMille had had YouTube, none of those movies would have been made, he'd just wear makeup and cry about Brittney Spears like every other disaffected egomaniac! But he didn't, and neither did and of dozens of other disaffected egomaniacs, so they made the likes of Plan Nine and Manus: Hand of Fate. The world makes so much sense!
