Oh, so that is where Zed Shaw hangs out nowadays. He's spot-on one out of ten times, but sifting through his continuos rant became tedious many years ago.

Not to be overly nerdy myself, but isn't Oppugno! the spell that Hermione uses to conjure up little birdies in Harry Potter? Is this word related to Oppugnus?
