The Asia Weblog Awards

The Asia Weblog Awards...they've garnered their fair share of controversey concerning just what constitutes an Asia Weblog, but scoring aside, it's an interesting list of personal sites from around the region.

Doesn't seem like you can have a competition for "Best [X]" without some people arguing about what [X] "really" is. From the little bit I read, I have to agree with Phil, in that they are trying to include rather than exclude. And given that they will draw attention to some really good blogs that might otherwise have gone unnoticed, this is a competition that everyone wins, competitor and non-competitor alike.

(My personal fave is Turbanhead - I already voted for them as Best Indian Blog).

(By the way, in the interests of disclosure, I am a white guy living in the USA, and therefore have no least scrap of "Asian perspective," whatever that is.)

As a caucasian blogger who is also a Taiwanese (ROC) national (obviously living in Taiwan), I'm interested in this topic of discussion, but I find it often deteriorates into insults so quickly nothing ever really gets discussed. So many people seem to have large axes to grind.

Vote for me and I'll (to borrow from clavdivs) skull-fuck your verbs and sell your nouns to the yangban.

But, you know, it's an honour to be nominated, each and every time. Sure, yeah. A big big honour.

Please don't vote in these things, people. It just encourages them. But if you must, I repeat, do not vote for me.
