Mother Earth is Lookin' Good These Days --Maybe I just have a lack of culture, but I didn't know anything about earth erotica photography. Also didn't know if I should be viewing the site at work.

Another idiotic online company that thinks they can sell copies of pieces of paper for $200 each.

Look, for $200 I'm expecting a lot more than something that can fit inside my college textbooks. A nice, hand carved wooden frame along with it would be a start.

My bets: 1 sale per day. Maybe.

This are just very polished teenager jokes at Old Faithful comparing it to ejaculation. Which I still think are hilarious.

It's like Beavis and Butthead: Photography Rules!

Try browsing those pictures with B&B laughing in your head. It makes a lot more sense.

I like 'em a lot. I wouldn't pay $200 for an 8x10 of anything, though. Nutty prices.

I feel unclean.

Heh heh, I said ... "feel".

These pictures are hilarious, especially when viewed using Stan Chin's suggestion: huh, huh. I need TP for my strange rock formation.

Awww, y'all are just curmudgeonly or something. I mean, not about the prices. Those are hallucinatory. They're pretty cool pictures, though. It at least takes dedication to look around at everything as if it were framed by a camera's lens. Well, many of them needed that. And they certainly got the lighting, etc... much better than I would have.

So, technical proficiency, genitalia-looking-things from nature. I see no reason to conclude just from those two facts that it's junior-high humor.

Also - especially with the preview thing... Why bother posting again to correct a typo? You know, A: it's just a forum, who cares about the occasional typo? and B: if you do care, why not carefully read through the preview?

How much of her childhood did Heather spend on her back? Watching clouds, that is. ;-P

Interesting Leonardo Online bibiliography on the larger topic of simulacra and other spurious images.

While the prices may appear obscene (as opposed to the erotic images), what Heather has done here is much more difficult than it seems. It takes a special eye to first FIND these images then it takes a technical prowess to CAPTURE them on film. Not that I'm whipping it out (my credit card that is), but I'm sure she'll get her price. Far more sophisticated than Junior High humor ... I think they're very cool.

And to think I always thought my hometown was the asshole of the earth.

I dunno, your mayor looks pretty cool.

These pictures are good, and $200 is not an unreasonable price for an art-photo 8x10. Not that I am going to pay two hundred bucks for a picture of a rock that looks like a crotch, but it's not unreasonable for her to ask.
posted by Fabulon7 at 6:45 AM on October 18, 2002

It's not unreasonable for her to ask 200 or 2 million, as long as she understands there will be very few takers, but it's her work, she can ask what she wants.

The photog does seem to have technical skill. But the subject matter is REALLY reaching.

I hope this is just part of a much larger portfolio or else she's really only a half-assed photographer. *smirk*

Butte crack.

How hard is it to look around at everything as if it were boobs?

Answer: not very.

Looks like a lot of those were taken in the Four Corners, which already has a long history of lascivious place names, like Mollie's Nipple, Organ Rock, the San Rafael Swell, etc. OK, maybe that last one's reaching...

Butte crack, heh.

The tree one is pretty cool I thought... but I wouldn't call this erotica, more like making illusions with a camera in a goofy way. Huh huh huh.
