Isn't that what Metafilter is for? posted by eatitlive at 9:23 AM on November 4, 2004

I'll only read it if quonsar is posting! posted by ba at 9:53 AM on November 4, 2004
if only quonsar had some sort website, where we could read nothing but quonsar... why i'd bet he'd name it something hilarious like mort.zeepblorp.com... a man can dream, though. posted by Krrrlson at 9:59 AM on November 4, 2004
This is such a good idea. Setting up a message board to discuss politics. Thanks for the terrific link! posted by rcade at 10:00 AM on November 4, 2004
eatitlive, that's what MetaFilter has become, a free-for-all insultfest (yes, I know I'm part of the problem, I'm in remission and seeing a counselor). But its not what MetaFilter is for.
Discuss04 should really be called VentYourRage04.
I'm ready to put '04 behind me and start thinking to '06 and '08. Wallowing in this shitty defeat isn't useful at all, thinking about how to make the next time different is useful. posted by fenriq at 10:11 AM on November 4, 2004
i would imagine that the no editing, no deletion policy will change pretty fast once the felonious and libelous speech starts. Silly hippies, speech isn't free! And despite it being a message board, the owners are quite possibly still legally responsible as publishers. posted by RJ Reynolds at 10:33 AM on November 4, 2004

Can I add that these sorts of forums lend themselves to postings of mindless cliches, e-mails that we've all read before, and simply repeitions of partisan talking points? You'd think the purpose would be for people to talk from the heart about their reactions or feelings, but that's just not what happens. I think I'll be sitting out "discuss04.com", thank you very much. Nice idea, though. posted by deanc at 11:08 AM on November 4, 2004

Immediately followed by a crappy photoshop cliche.

As long as the country is so evenly split between democrats and republicans, we should just have 2 presidents. Like, the president, and his nemesis, the anti-president. That would be so awesome.

Papercake: thanks. I love your cartoons. In all, all serious, I feel sorry for you--not for many people here on Mefi, but definitely for you. May I send you flowers? posted by ParisParamus at 4:18 PM on November 4, 2004
Well, ironically, the election does open a whole lot of new prospects of things to track. Arlen Spector is (probably) replacing Orrin Hatch as the chairman of the Judiciary Committee, which puts a very different face on potential Supreme Court nominees.
Several democratic senators will be vying for leadership roles, and the 2008 race will have to begin soon with a reshuffle of the DNC and the DLC, along with the retirement of Terry McAuliffe.
Several cabinet changes are impending--they will require Senate confirmation, too.
Today, Bush announced an agenda to make major changes to Social Security, the tax code, and medical malpractice lawsuits. He did NOT mention foreign policy to any great extent.
The election is over. posted by kablam at 4:47 PM on November 4, 2004
PP: I'm afraid I can't take credit for the cartoons -- other than the context. And the Kerry pin.
I could swore I originally came across that link via MF, but perhaps not as I can't find it with a quick search posted by papercake at 5:50 AM on November 5, 2004
