Mr. Boehner is either really confused or really naive. Rep. John Boehner argues against the non biding Iraq war resolution. (YouTube Video).

This post was deleted for the following reason: A single link to a standard CSPAN republican screed with editorializing in the post isn't really interesting or novel.

Oh, it all makes sense to me now.

A lot of people say a lot of stupid things every day. Here is one of them. Huzzah!

Hey, at least he didn't editorialize in his post!

Single-link Iraqfilter (Youtube).

It's like watching C-Span. Except on Metafilter.

This isn't any different than the warhawk boilerplate that Republicans (and others) have been spouting out for the last five years. Why is this special? Boehner is just another tool of the Administration machine, but nothing he said was really new or noteworthy. (in other words, why an FPP for this?)

It's just the same old rhetoric about the rise of Islamic aggression against the west which has some kernel of truth. He left out a lot of other attacks in Europe.

This is a better 1-link video post about Iraq.

Well, it may well be that Boehner is "just another tool," but he's also the minority party leader in the House, so inasmuch as that gets him more media play than the average tool, then it's somewhat noteworthy. Whether that merits an FPP, others may decide.

This wasn't really right-wing nuttery and you shouldn't be mocking it as such. Yes, believe it or not, we have been attacked by fundamentalist muslims numerous times (not to mentional additional acts of violence against civillians in india, israel, pakistan, indonesia, egypt, etc) and of course the ones he mentions. Anyone who does not see this issue (fundamentalists getting teeth and clashing with western culture) asthe defining issue of the time we live in truly is naive

that being said, i am sympathetic with many of the (non-religious) issues they have with the west. some are truly fighting the good fight against capitalism and opression. i only wish there was a way to win without taking innocent lives

Or both.

Careful, petsounds. The last time I broached the topic of the glorious nature of politicized Islam I was called "Michelle Malkin" by another MeFite. But you're also wrong on one thing: the defining issue of our time is the US enforcing global hegemony with arms, which is the primary root and exacerbating factor of nationalist and fundamentalist movements worldwide.
