Funny man. Sorry to hear.

I remember enjoying seeing him on Tough Crowd. Always seemed to have a cheerful cynicism about the world.

Also reported on The Wall Street Journal (blog) (citing "various sources"), and E! lists tweets from other comedians as their source.

Seems a bit early (and a lot thin).

I saw that he OD'd on prescription drugs yesterday/the day before. I'm not sure Greg Giraldo rates a FPP, but even (or especially) if he does, I'm not sure a TMZ-anchored post is the way to go.

Greg Giraldo on Failure was in Psychology Today recently. It's really interesting because it shows that he's a really thoughtful guy in a way that doesn't always come across in his (good) act. Sad to see him go.

Ouch. This is one of those situations where you should flag it and move on, not comment.

It's probably true he's been hospitalized since Monday. His official site lists his facebook page as being the place to send condolences.

Very sad news, I was really hoping the last comic gig would help him take off a bit this year. He's one of those witty foulmouthed hard-living dudes with kind eyes that make me proud to be a man.

Very sorry to hear this. A few of my friends were reasonably close with him and without fail, each of them have nothing but the highest regard for not only his talents, but also his humanity. This is a sad day for comedy.

The Comedy Central Roasts really made him shine. You'll be missed.

MSNBC also cites tweets, and the Baltimore Sun (blog) cites TMZ. HuffPo confuses 8 sentences for a "complete story."

As Potomac Avenue said, his website currently says Notes of condolence can be left on Greg's Facebook page. There, his profile currently states his info in the present tense (Greg Giraldo is one of Americas top comedians and a headliner in clubs across the country). Seems mostly official.

Blazecock Pileon: "a cheerful cynicism about the world. "

That's a pretty perfect description, I think. Sad to see this happen.
