I must have somehow missed the first horse mask post, but this post right here is still pretty ridiculously amazing.
posted by Venadium at 11:50 PM on February 14, 2008

That thread only features one of the videos from here and solely focused on the video itself instead of the amazing phenomenon that is the horsemask. Horsemask? Horsemask.

Did I?

I just can't bring myself to click any link that refers to TG as 'master' of anything. Obligitory link to the barrel.

Horsemask. There, I said it.

The links aren't about Tom Green. Actually the first one is but the others aren't.

K?

In the "to the" link when Tom has the horsie mask half on his head and he looks to the right, it looks like one of those floppy renaissance hats. I felt compelled to share that.
posted by fleetmouse at 1:07 AM on February 15, 2008 [1 favorite]

The "to the" link is a tasteless parody of Mitchell Henderson (possibly NSFW). Anonymous can be funny but damn, they're harsh.
posted by m0nm0n at 1:21 AM on February 15, 2008

And yet, even if you laid all the other horsemask videos end to end you still wouldn't reach even an eighth of the weird of the original horsemask/mushroom-cooking clip.

I'll be gland when this has departed.

Tom Green saved my brother in law's life. His testicular cancer show more or less coincided with my brother in law Mike finding a lump on one of his testicles (a guy's guy who probably would have ignored it under different circumstances).

Still sucks, though.

Is this the Drew-Barrymore-Tom-Green?
Double yuck.
posted by Dizzy at 4:50 AM on February 15, 2008

It's good. A little too comprehensible at times, though. I like the parts where he's just moving through the city with the horses head mask and no-one's making any kind of deal about it. The Oh-My-God-So-Whacky parts should be cut out.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go back to polishing my 2ยข.

About a year ago I saw a kid skateboarding with one of these masks on. We were in a little town in Northern RI and he just comes sailing down the sidewalk, all equine. It was one of the strangest things I've ever seen. I'm so glad I finally know why.

My husband has a rubber chicken mask that he likes to use to similar effect. Sometimes we'll be driving and whoever is in the passenger seat will put it on and look into the passing cars. Great fun on the Mass Pike!

Well, it's largely assumed the TG is a master of bating, but I wouldn't click on that link either.

I thought that Tom Green's show on MTV was often totally hilarious and I'm not ashamed to admit it. GAH YOU PEOPLE HATE EVERYTHING.

GAH YOU PEOPLE HATE EVERYTHING.

Not true. That pregnant woman dancing in a horses head is the hottest thing I've ever seen on the internet.

Is Tom Green generally well regarded in Canada? I can't explain him otherwise.

I think that you people are getting confused. Tom Green didn't start this. I started looking for other horse mask videos after seeing Tom Green wear one and decided to YouTube it.

At first you were referring to Terry Gilliam and I was about to get mad, because when I think of horse masks I think of the movie Time Bandits. That is the go-to movie for anyone who's into weird animal masks (well, I guess you could make an argument for The Wicker Man, too, but Time Bandits will always be #1 with me). Seriously creeped me out as a kid, but in a good way.

He has one of those cheesy goatees and an Apple laptop, so that means he must really be funny and I just don't get his humor.

Bought one of these masks on Ebay recently. Wondering what I should do with it.

I used to get drunk and run around the neighbourhood in the middle of the night in a tweety costume for laughs. True. Nearly got caught by some cops one time, but I think they were laughing too hard to catch me. Never made the local paper, though, not for want of trying and peering thru windows going "buk buk buuuuk". I need to emulate something like that with this.

So I walked into a bar wearing a horse mask, and the bartender said "Hey, why the long face?" And I explained that I had just lost my job, my wife had left me, and my dog had died. Then I asked for a beer and sat down.

I don't like people wearing horse masks.

People wearing iguana masks? That will stir your shit right on up.

I was at a party the other day and some guy was wearing a horse mask. He almost started a fight. I wondered what that was about.

(maybe the mask was of a jack-ass, I couldn't tell)

Think he was a mook of some sort. He used to sell some awful drink called "Pepsi One."

At a MeFi meetup, I showed a female mefite an old picture of me in my twenties when I hada goatee. She told me I looked like Tom Green. I've never done any of the gross shit Tom Green did, but I also didn't get to have sex with Drew Barrymore.
