Ooh, I'm really interested in the kid's clothing one. I've often been baffled by some of the choices that went into designing my kid's clothes. I wonder if they'll address, for example, fully functional pockets on trousers for 6-month-olds?

Six months is too young to be able to deal with a phone holster. They just don't have the manual dexterity at that stage of development.

The kids clothing episode is mostly about safety - ie, kids hoodies don't have actual draw strings, but little ones sewn on.

It's a fascinating series! If you love material culture, you would love this podcast. There's a lot we take for granted about textiles.

I was interested in how safety affects style in children's clothing. If you design a loose shirt with relaxing pastel clouds on it, for example, you might get into trouble because your relaxing pastel clouds are sleepy, which makes your shirt sleepwear, and the rules for sleepwear design demand that all sleepwear be snug and flame-resistant. No relaxing pastel clouds on a loose shirt. You have to make it tight with relaxing clouds or you have to make it loose but too gaudy and uncomfortable to be sleepwear.

Each episode has been great! The pocket one especially.

There are two more episodes in this series yet to come. I'll go back and get them later. I just listened to the Plaid (tartan) one and it was fascinating.

Listened to the first two today and really enjoyed them; am legit excited to learn about Hawaiian shirts on my next run. I love 99pi and these are at the top of the form.

I’ve been listening to 99pi for ages and expected not to enjoy these cuz I care very little about fashion, but they’re amazing. Every single one has taught me fascinating new things. I’m sad there’s only two more.

The last two podcasts are up on the page. #5 is blue jeans; #6 is punk style. I hope you enjoy them.
