How To Drink is "a show about making drinks and how to drink them". Featuring classic cocktails like the Moscow Mule, cocktails from TV, books, and movies like the Dude's White Russian, and inspired by them, like the Game of Thrones-inspired Prince That Was Promised. Featuring also rants and raves about 80s movies, wry tasting note commentary, and a devotion to making the most delicious possible version of any drink. posted by capricorn (12 comments total) 29 users marked this as a favorite

Don't forget butterbeer.

I haven't actually tried this yet and I can't comment on the potential heart attack risk but, y'know, Butterbeer!

My normal method of drink making is very much in the style of Grumpybear69 most of the time these days, but, short of the flamed orange peel and the strict measuring of ingredients and the correct bitters, I just made the maple old fashioned from the channel's very first video, and it is super good.

I appreciate the gumption, as it were, of making a video about the White Russian, deciding it's terrible halfway through, and making a different cocktail instead.

I just like how you can tell how far into the day he is as the video's get released. (I think one just got released where he said it was the 20th video they shot that day - which hoo boy)

Hates White Russian. (obviously as he's not wearing a ratty cardigan sweater)

Of course he doesn't like the white russian he made. You've got to let it mellow in the glass a bit. Why the rush, man?

Yeah I always figured he got a little tipsy before filming but realizing he does an entire season in one go definitely gave me a new appreciation.

Yeah, all I can think is the man is really fighting through some real drinky sweats (and swervey mental bits) on these shoots, but if he's shooting 20 episodes in a day and dropping 2-3 episodes a week (3 during special periods like GoT) that's a maximum of 8 shooting days per year. (assuming that's his normal run) - but boy aren't those some tough 8 days!

Can anyone give me any insight as to why the "Moscow Mule" is a thing instead of a "Dark and Stormy." I feel like a moscow mule is just removing the flavour a dark and stormy was intended to have, for no particular reason, and serving it with a bit of poisonous metal.

No, vodka doesn't "sneak" -- it gets you in the back of the head with a tire-iron (when you are not looking -- BUT YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN)

No shade on the series as a whole, but bro, the alcohol that goes into a caipirinha is pronounced Kah-shah-Sa
