Silk Roads

The Digital Silk Roads Project continues to grow apace with more additions from the Toyo Bunko rare books archive. Now available online, among others, are Les grottes de Touen-Houang, The Thousand Buddhas and several German books, including Chotscho. Unfortunately, all of the high resolution images are greyscale. I find this stuff fascinating; thanks for the update.

When I saw the famous sino-japanese documentary about the silk road, Tun Huan, Khotan, the Takla makan desert, in the late eighties/ early nineties I was blown away. The thousand buddhas, the story about the self appointed lone librarian that Sven Hedin encountered, the library that Sven Hedin found/stole, etc etc.
Thanks for reminding me.

Thanks for the reminder. I've just spent a fair chunk of time trawling in there again.
