Sock Monkey Movie? Yes, Please!

Will there be a sock monkey movie in the works? If the teaser video is any indication, it's possible that Tony Millionaire's Uncle Gabby (the sock monkey version) will be making an appearance in the big screen (SLYT). Uncle Gabby and his friend, Crow, have been featured in numerous illustrated children's books written by Millionaire. The proposed movie is based off of the plot in the upcoming children's book, Sock Monkey: Into The Deep Woods. The video was created by Matt Danner. View the announcement by Tony himself here.
You may remember Tony Millionaire's ill-fated Adult Swim TV show from a few years ago, The Drinky Crow Show. The characters in the children's books share the same names and have similar qualities as the "grown-up" versions, but are clearly distinct in storylines and settings.

I haven't cared for the animated adaptations, honestly. The CGI on that Drinky Crow show (and there were some animated Maakies shorts years ago, too) wasn't that good.
But the Maakies strips are brilliant and if you have't read them, you should.
And Sock Monkey, the comics? It's wondrous and delightful -- the complete opposite of the low-brow crudeness of the Maakies strips. There's a sequence in one of the early books where Sock Monkey commits suicide, and yes, you'd probably let your kid read it.

IIRC Matt worked on the Drinky Crow show - yeah, director. I pretty much lost track of him after parting ways with him when most of the Nebulous crew went to work at WB.

The difference between Maakies and Sock Monkey is extreme, the two, despite the similar art style and character names, could not be any more different, and yet they're both from the same guy. I don't buy many comics, but my Sock Monkey compilations are much beloved and treasured. I don't think I could be more excited about this possibility.
