Dogs, amirite? Use them for a pillow once and the next thing you know they're up in your grill trying to be your friend [music and cat snark].

Best dog/cat story I've ever heard:
Someone I once knew lived with a bunch of roommates, and they had an older cat and got a puppy. The puppy was....well, a puppy, and wanted to play, and the cat was annoyed that its peace was being disrupted.
About a month later, there were a couple instances of someone walking into the dining room and finding the puppy standing on top of the dining room table, all slobbery and panty like "look where I am!" Usually they'd put it back down on the ground, all "how the HELL did you get up THERE, boy?" There were a couple of Group House Talks trying to get to the bottom of "okay, who's the prankster who's putting the puppy on the table?" But no one was fessing up. And there were yet more instances of the puppy just sudddenly being on top of the dining room table.
Finally, one day someone happened to be at home and watching at just the right time and figured it out.
The puppy was following the cat around, trying to get it to play, and the cat was trying to avoid it. Finally the cat sort of lured the puppy into the dining room, then jumped up onto a chair. The puppy was able to climb up onto the chair with the cat. Then the cat jumped up from the chair to the table. The puppy was able to climb up and follow. And then, the cat promptly jumped off the table and stalked out of the room, leaving the puppy stranded on the table.

My dog-walking friends just posted what is probably my favorite cat-on-dog image only because both animals are just so beautiful and their colors and pattens work so well together.

My pug so badly wants cat friends but he cannot contain his excitement so not very many cats will even give him a chance. Gibbon (my pug) finds it super sad when random neighborhood cats won't be his best friend.

These make me want to be at the very center of a giant fluffy puppy and kitty pile in a super comfy room where we're all snoozing in the best sunny spot in the whole wide world, with no obligations and nowhere to be except together, always

When I was a youngster, we lived in a big house with a cat. We always left an upper floor window open so the cat could come and go as she pleased.
Then, we got a puppy, which the cat of course hated... and proceeded to drag out onto the roof and abandon there before climbing down a tree to freedom. We never figured out how the cat got the puppy from the floor to the window, as she had to jump about 4.5 feet and there was no way she could do that with a puppy in her jaws, but we many times saw her dragging the animal across the floor like it was her own kitten. Every time we spotted her, she let go of the dog and just walked away, which is why we were never able to witness the jump-to-window-maneuver.
This lasted for a couple months until the dog was sick of it and too big to drag.

So cute!
The dog most suited to being a pillow in my household actively shuns the contact of other animals, so I don't see this happening. I use him as a pillow sometimes though. The other two dogs are either scratchy or thin and bony, which does not a good pillow make.
The most dog/cat interaction we get is the cat chirping at the dogs, and then walking by and rubbing her butt against them, which the dogs either ignore, or step away from and give her a "what the heck?" look.

I don't know which I like better - the eponysterical angle, or the fact that you have a pug named "Gibbon" which is like one of the best names ever for a pug for some reason.

Gibbon's cat excitement is innate and exhaustion has zero bearing on his, "OMG THAT IS A KITTY CAT, I WANT TO SMISH IT" levels. To be fair, he may be feeding off my vibes.
Gibbon would literally lie down on a running treadmill, roll off the back, and very likely turtle himself on the floor.

This is relevant to our household's interests.
We have two cats and one dog. Two cats are unfazed by dog in general. Dog is not overly fond of lovely sweet black and white fluffball who you would want as your next door neighbour if he were a person. Dog is COMPLETELY ENAMOURED of grey meanie claws-out bitey-face and literally dances in front of him trying to get him to play.
"I dance for you! I wave my head around and wiggle my rear end enthusiastically! I make highly encouraging noises! I shred my dignity in the face of your monumental indifference!!! WHY WON'T YOU PLAY WITH MEEEE???"
It's the most one-sided bromance in history.
