Meow Meow Meow Meow [ad infinitum]

Ten contestants. Ten days. They all grew up in shelters -- but one of them will claw his or her way to the top. It's the Meow Mix House, where ten cats will vie to become Meow Mix's Feline Vice President of Research and Development. (And, win or lose, they will all be adopted by families.) The webcams. It was at that moment that god realized his experiment had gotten out of hand.

Someone at work mentioned that they were doing a reality show with cats. I was a bit bewildered until they said it was Big Brother. Perfect show for cats.

All I see is domestic shorthairs - where's the diversity? My Siamese would rule these pussies...

Wouldn't it be more dramatic if each week one was voted to be euthanised?

The best part will be when they all develop urinary tract infections from Meow Mix and have to switch to Prescription Diet.

Not a single black cat? Somebody call Al Sharpton.

In my own game of cat survival. I moved six indoor / outdoor country cats to the outskirts of a city four months ago. Three light-colored cats have disappeared (owls, bobcats, neighbors?), the three black cats (to date) have survived.

I don't know what makes me despair more: the fact that this is happening, the fact that people would watch it, the fact that I would probably watch it just to see, or the fact that I'm writing a comment on the internet about what my thoughts are on the latest CAT REALITY SHOW.

My Siamese and yours would team up, they would use their wiles and their Mighty Battle Cry (tm) to frighten the other contestants into submitting to their will. The non-pure would fall like chaff before them.

Then when they were the only two left, the battle would turn inward. They would engage in a form of combat not unlike what was seen last in feudal Japan between warring ninja clans.

Unfortunately we wouldn't be able witness this as the it would take place faster than our eyes are capable of seeing.

Then my cat would get bored and start swatting at a scrap of tinfoil and your cat would surely take the win.

You know what would be great? A reality show where cat owners talk about their cats.

No, wait...

Since cats sleep 18 hours a day, I don't see a really exciting show coming...

Yeah, what a crock of ....Ohhthey’resocute!

/I’dve thought ‘Ellis’ would have two muzzles and a third eye. Huh.

This is far more interesting than human Big Brother, but the lack of pixellation on their naughty bits is making me a tad uncomfortable.

Actually, I think CeilingCat is the show's producer... he is watching...

My Siamese would rule these pussies...

I grew up with Siamese cats. They're gone now. My parents got two new Siamese "grandkitties."

But even the most 'fraidy of my three, mongrel shelter cats has proven more than able to take down those pampered purebreds.

On Sunday, we adopted a sweet little kitty from Cat Adoption Team, the shelter where Ellis is from. It's an amazing, well run facility, but, nevertheless, Hope is thriving so much better now. The Meow Mix thing is a pretty big deal at CAT. Anything that encourages people to adopt adult cats from a shelter instead of buying from a pet store or breeder is a-okay with me.

Really, I'm posting to gush about my kitty. I grin like hell every time I see her.

Also, Ellis has a MySpace page. [Insert joke about obnoxious MySpace page design here.]

Is anyone else having trouble seeing the webcams? They are all blank and just say that I have to visit earthcam.com.

I'm not ashamed. I have no kitties, so I will be watching these. KITTY SO PRETTY!

If you really want to get into watching cats compete with each other (as well as, um, bears and robots) you must make a point of following The Badass Games!!!

She's very pretty, Skwirl! I'm a sucker for the shy ones, too. The more frightened they are, the more I want to protect them.

I thought the whole point was to NOT observe the cat in the box.
