Thank you for this. My dad, who passed away about two years ago, logged over 10,000 hours of flying time in a DC-3. I wish I could share this with him. posted by ElDiabloConQueso at 6:05 PM on February 8, 2011
Also, from the CRJ-700 cockpit, I'm somehow glad to see that the pilots have the same annoying air blowers as the rest of us. posted by sysinfo at 6:06 PM on February 8, 2011
My dad is going to crap his pants over this. posted by PHINC at 6:09 PM on February 8, 2011
This is fun. I always marvel as to how much STUFF there is inside a cockpit that you have to know how to use so that a plane doesn't go all wonky in the sky. It's nice to have the time to browse, rather than having to loiter around the flight attendant station when deplaning, furtively getting fleeting glimpses of the cockpit. posted by not_on_display at 6:09 PM on February 8, 2011
My first airshow, my dad and I took a souvenir photo from inside the cockpit of a Blue Angels jet. The photo is of us grinning and giving thumbs up, but my memory is of that glorious cockpit.
Maybe it was due to many hours spent behind the joystick of the Blue Angels DOS game as a child, but I was overwhelmed. I almost forgot to look up at the camera.
