Bush speaks out on misplaced anger - "...our nation must be mindful that there are thousands of Arab-Americans who live in New York City, who love their flag just as much as the three of us do, and we must be mindful that as we seek to win the war that we treat Arab-Americans and Muslims with the respect they deserve. "

amen! go Bush for saying something that makes so much sense and for recognizing the rights of all Americans. Now time to go after the real culprits.....

Bush needs to address the nation directly about this -- not off-handedly. In a fundamental sense, this sort of thing may just be the worst fallout from all this, because it undermines us as a society.

Whenthe ever so obvious is spouted I tend to get a wee bit tired. I don't blame Bush. Like so many politicians, he ahs come to believe the platitudes he spouts. Some of my best friends are muslims etc

In case you've missed the point, Postroad, this apparently isn't so "obvious" to the dozens of morons nation- and world-wide who are standing outside Muslim mosques waving flags and harassing people of Middle Eastern descent, firing guns into the windows of Muslim school, and attack people of all colors. The President is attempting to quell these incidents and refocus attention on the guilty parties themselves.

a convenience store 5 minutes from my house was attacked with a multav cocktail last night by three teenager morons. the owner of the store isn't even arabic or muslim, he's indian. stuff like this is disgusting....

Why wasn't part of the first press conference Tuesday night? You don't have to be Nostradamus (sorry couldn't resist) to predict what was going to happen post plane-attack.

For the record:

1. I'm still against hate crime legislation.
2. I'm still against the death penalty.

I hope the recent attacks haven't worked out psychologically to turn everyone just a little meaner.
