Some of these guys are my "similar artists" on last.fm. I just wish they wouldn't use so many weird characters in their names. posted by dunkadunc at 12:32 PM on May 19, 2011
Ah, the bastard children of John Zewizz grubbing in pop culture detritus. This one salutes you. posted by boo_radley at 12:37 PM on May 19, 2011

Oh, and I've heard that the term for all this is Newbreed. (warning: I'm in there.) posted by dunkadunc at 1:15 PM on May 19, 2011 [2 favorites]

This statement could apply to pretty much all tagging on Last.fm. As much as I love being able to keep track of my listening habits, the whole place is a giant edit war between various types of angsty teenagers and teenagers-in-spirit battling for control of short wiki articles about bands they'll furiously deny knowing in six months. The "groups" function is even worse; it boils down to "I hearby pledge my fealty to the abstract ideal of only using certain time signatures and VST plugins and declare war on any artist that dares deviate." posted by Inspector.Gadget at 1:35 PM on May 19, 2011

I've been listening to it for about a month and I think some of the songs stand up. That's why I posted it. ^_^
I particularly like A Blue Rose and Through the Darkness, and then Burst into fire, X-RAYS, and Dweller on the Threshold, and the last song, Traces to Nowhere. posted by mrgrimm at 3:47 PM on May 19, 2011
Bad physics! You wouldn't burst into fire 'cause there's no air in space.
Laura Palmer was good at many things, but physics was not one of them. posted by mrgrimm at 3:49 PM on May 19, 2011

Thanks, dunkadunc. I'd never been to that site before, so not sure where I got the track, but mixes along my lines. posted by mrgrimm at 8:40 AM on May 23, 2011
