Bin Laden's declaration of war on America From the Al Quida message board linked by tpoh.org.
at least now i know his nationality (or former-nationality) and what business his family's in and crap. the popular media has been no help at all on that.

I hope this isn't a declaration of war. Why do innocent people have to fight and kill each other because the leaders of two countries can't get along? They should be the ones out there fighting.

jcterminal, it's consistent with what we know about the 1996 declaration he distributed through trusted sources, and the rest of the site seems clearly aimed at the Islamic dissident diaspora (Sheik Azzam is based in London). I'm willing to accept it.
Katy, bin Laden leads no country -- and again, I underline that this is not new, but about five years old. As far as bin Laden is concerned, the entire Muslim world is already at war with the West. I am very concerned about the blowback, so to speak, but I do think that the WTC bombing was nothing if not an act of war -- a war crime, to be sure. But we face no nation here.

Come on now. Step back for a moment.
bin Laden is bent on terrorism. bin Laden has indirectly (and probably directly) killed innocent Americans and other innocent citizens of the world. bin Laden urges others to do the same, as he sees no wrong in it. It furthers his cause.
I don't think that bin Laden needs to issue a notarized statement of war to congress to let us know that he wants a fight. He's already stated that the honor of bringing the downfall of America will fall on his Muslim people.
That's quite satisfactory of a declaration for me.
