Being a big John Carpenter fan, one of the main roles I associate with her is the creepy hotel-owner who turns into a tentacled beastie in In the Mouth of Madness. posted by brundlefly at 10:56 AM on September 17, 2011 [3 favorites]
I fuckin' love the "My fingers hurt" scene from Happy Gilmore. posted by gman at 10:59 AM on September 17, 2011
I really liked Happy Gilmore. In a lot of ways it was the start of Sandler's move towards playing angry man children but I maintain it was at least really funny. And she was lovely in it.
Looking over her IMDB, I see she's been in just about everything. What a career.
Thanks to that woman, my mother no longer asks my sister or I for a glass of milk. She didn't do poorly at all for a girl from Dauphin, Manitoba. posted by Alvy Ampersand at 1:09 PM on September 17, 2011
First time I really noticed her was in Nomads, but she always turns in a good performance, and I was just thinking the other day I was happy she was still around. Alas. posted by Durn Bronzefist at 2:21 PM on September 17, 2011

Too sad an end for someone seemingly so sweet. posted by karst at 3:02 PM on September 17, 2011 [2 favorites]
She really pulled off the archetypal sweet old lady well. Everyone watching could project a bit of their grandma into the roles she played. A nice long run! posted by Horselover Phattie at 5:44 PM on September 17, 2011
