Photographs of the Christchurch earthquake recovery

Ross Becker's photographs of Christchurch. The central business district reopens this weekend for the first time since the earthquake (Previously: 1, 2, 3) on February 22, 2011.

Funded by the National Library of New Zealand, the project "aims to help the people of Christchurch and Canterbury and other New Zealanders make sense of what happened and provide a disciplined record of the progress of recovery." See also quakestories.govt.nz.

Good luck!

A Kiwi colleague told me that the impact of the earthquake for New Zealand in the long term is going to be huge - lower credit rating, more expensive to borrow and so on. & through no fault of their own. Very sad.
