Time warping Dolls

With a jump to the left and a step to the right, the Dresden Doll's paid the best form of tribute to music which helped form who they became, by inviting them on stage to perform with them. By a chance meeting in juice bar in Auckland, Amanda Palmer of the Dresden Dolls bumped into Richard O'Brien writer of Rocky Horror Picture show and Riff Raff, and long story short invited him to perform with them later that night in their gig. Much to the appreciation of the crowd (Of which I was one). Starting off with Science Fiction Double Feature and making any Rocky Horror sing along complete by doing Time Warp. "more inside"

After taking a break during their gig to chat with the audience and shout out to the music & musicians who helped form the Dresden Dolls, they then call on a special guest of Richard O'Brien and proceeded to play a couple of songs from Rocky Horror with him (and the whole audience) singing along.

There were also some covers of Nick Cave & PJ Harvey, but they didn't get up on the stage as surprise guests.

The ended up playing a 2 1/2 hour long set, with all the different covers and own material, making it a very fun and exceptionally good value gig

This post was deleted for the following reason: That's kind of a cool thing but mefi posts need to read less like a personal blog entry than this. Not a huge deal, if you or someone else wants to give it another shot with less of an "I was there!" presentation. -- cortex

This gig was up there with one of my top ones, given it was a smaller venue and the Dolls really know how to work a crowd and get everyone fully engaged in the gig.
