This seems like as good a time as any to link to the Sir David Attenborough Drinking Game.

Warning: may cause drunk.

I know I should find the shot of the kittens bloodily devouring a pigeon horrifying, or at least gross, but... soooo cute!

If there were a free kitten delivery service, I'd be well on my way to becoming a crazy hoarding cat lady.

Our cat ladies are never that hot.

That bit would have been much more amusing if I weren't absolutely certain that it was staged.

Oh kitties. That scene from Allegro Non Troppo had all of the old ladies crying.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't staged. Colonies of cats have long been known to exhibit mass suicide behavior by jumping off cliffs.

That was a good watch! Our cat dug it.

I wonder how much time they spend roming the cat-acombs.

I suspect much of the footage is shot in the cat sanctuary in Largo Argentina (slap bang in the centre of Rome) with some shot around the Roman Forum and Trajan's Forum too.

The cat sanctuary has very strict adoption policies. I adopted an awesome kittah from there but a loving Canadian couple who it seemed couldn't demonstrate sufficient commitment were turned down.

And today, 17 February, is the Feast of the Cat here in Italy. And because it's Friday 17 (unlucky equivalent in Italy to Friday 13 in some other societies), particularly of the Black Cat. I'm now off to greet some feline friends at that other beautiful cattery right next to, and usually overflowing into, the Non-Catholic cemetery.

What an awesome topic, and fascinating. I was surprised that the mother-daughter relationship extended into adulthood as shown. I'd like to meet Caesar, I like big old toms.

2,000 cat colonies? Do you get covered in cat hair just visiting Rome?
