anthrax home page Have you heard that the lead singer for the band Anthrax is angry that Anthrax is the cause of the death at the National Enquirer office. He also says he is taking antibiotics as a precaution that he doesn't die an ironic death from Anthrax. He is also thinking of changing his band's name to Bubonic Plague or Skin Eating Disease.

Uhm ... your link goes to the home page where none of what you just said is mentioned...

I was talking to my wife this morning and, all of a sudden, she showed me her skin-eating-disease, apparently caused by listening to shitty-named bands on the bus coming home. It was awesome. I now have it myself. And it pains me no end.
The question is, though: Am I alone in becoming bubonic when such things are mentioned? Surely other members have plagues of their own to share.
I blame Neale and Iceberg, myself. Are there any other users out there who share my eczema?
Doesn't Anthrax sound like a medication? Isn't there an anti-anxiety benzodiazepine of the same name? Am I alone in requiring industrial doses of Valium to resist these sudden name-changes by avowedly boring bands?

It is their home page. I found the news on the broadcast news channel on cable. It is too new obviously, but obviously noteworthy, as an instance of the stupidity and wrongheadedness of most "public" figures.

It is on there.

Along with with:

The tour the terrorists tried to stop is back!

Uh, kick ass!

No. But now that you mention it, I suppose this whole terrorist kerfluffle has also given "The WTC/Pentagon Kamikaze Airliner Fundamentalists" reason to rethink their name. It probably wasn't a great name for a gospel group to begin with, but still, who would have thought!

I think pretty shortly after the disaster, I am the World Trade Center changed their name to "I am the...". Their explanation (sorta) is on their web site.

In the New Regime, wanton misuse of antibiotics (eg: to assuage mindless fear) will be punishable by death.

There were a few funny quotes from Scott Ian in the Washington Post the other day.

You know, "Necrotizing Fasciitis" just doesn't roll off the tongue the way "Anthrax" does. And it's harder to spell too.

warning: the "i am ..." site linked by proleptic takes over your browser like an armenian porn site.

"our name symbolizes fear, paranoia and death." Hmm. Fear. Cheque. Paranoia. Cheque. Death. Cheque. Anthrax is coming to toooooown.

Suddenly honey isn't so cool, either (NYT link). Who cares ?

Scotty had a quote on page six "It's kinda like being a band leader in 1937 called Freddie Hitler"

Hmm... I thought these guys got better with Sound of White Noise but that was like 10 years ago.

And Scotty is the guitar player not the lead singer.

I know the situation is touchy, but dammit... I laughed. I just have to laugh. Thank you, God, for rock stars.

By the way, I know no one cares about my sniffy little corrections, but:

If the dude from Anthrax died of anthrax would not be ironic. It would be appropriate.

Now, if the dude from the band Amoxycillin died of staph infection, that would be ironic.
