.... someone from the McCain lineage ... get tattooed for forever on their body: Generation(s) of Swine.

Do you know anything about Megan McCain? Wikipedia:
McCain also has described herself as a Republican who is "liberal on social issues".[3][8] She registered as an Independent when she was 18 years old[1] and she voted for John Kerry in the 2004 presidential election.[8] She agrees with her father's positions on global warming and stem-cell research.[3] At first she had doubts about the 2003 invasion of Iraq but subsequently supported her father's position regarding it.[3] She has stated she is pro-life,[9] in favor of sex education and birth control.[10] She has chastised conservatives for hypocrisy regarding abortion: "They go on and on about how evil and wrong abortion is, but don't like to talk about how easy it is to not get pregnant."
Really not my positions, but do you seriously think this women deserves to be called "swine"?

According to the documentary, he died exactly when he wanted to, and even felt he'd overstayed his time on the planet.

Just started making my way through the YouTube links. They don't make 'em like Hunter anymore, do they?

the title is what Megan McCain wanted to tattoo on her body.

I think I'm gonna be sad. I think it's today, yeah.

Mod note: Turning this completely unrelated thread into a "Republicans are bad" rant is really, really not cool. Please stop.

[mentally composing response to karathrace — read restless_nomad's mod — okay, this thread's not the place to have this debate]

[think it's more likely been turned into a referendum on Ms. McCain's judgement when it comes to getting a tattoo. Which isn't at all cool. The tattoo, that is.]

Gonzo fist/knife logo thingy, that's the default HST tattoo.

While HST wanted to die earlier, many of his fans selfishly miss having his voice grace our landscape.

Thanks for this, I look forward to watching!

Gary Busey is awesome.

Yeah, I had no idea his bit about wanting a kiss and being lonely was an ad lib.

Although I have to admit, given the chance, I'd ad lib a request for a kiss from Johnny Depp too.

Coming in late to say thanks, hippybear. Loved the doc, and it's inspired me to reread Fear & Loathing: On the Campaign Trail '72. Looking forward to seeing what it has to say, 40 years on, about the current political circus.

Reading the opening chapter, I'm already struck again by just how gifted a writer Thompson was (and how often this gets forgotten when the spectacle of his life is discussed). The opening chapter of F&L '72 has these protracted asides about the behaviour of jackrabbits and this incident en route to DC where he picks up a couple of young freaks whose car has died on the Penn Turnpike.

As a reader, you might start to wonder what the hell the point is. But then by the time you get to DC with the good doctor, you're nervous and twitchy, looking for bad craziness in hedges, on street corners. Exactly as he wants you to feel. Brilliant foreshadowing, delivered in a loose rambling style that looks so effortless it inspired a thousand third-rate imitators but no equals.
