Seat Assignments: "While in the lavatory on a domestic flight in March 2010, I spontaneously put a tissue paper toilet cover seat cover over my head and took a picture in the mirror. The image evoked 15th-century Flemish portraiture." Seat Assignments will be on view in San Franscisco's Catharine Clark Gallery from April 14th through May 26th.

You need that profile for evoking that look. I would simply look like a trussed up doughnut. With glasses.

And that, boys and girls, is how to do art. Wonderful.

This is just fantastic. She's really got the facial structure for it, too. Bravo! I will try to make a point to get to the gallery to see them in person. Hmmm, 150 Minna. Gotta be some good bars near there. Meetup? Hmmm.

C'mon, guys, this is a serious artist. I mean, we all loved her Saber Dance, right?

I also came here to say that she definitely has a face that was made for 15th Century Flemish Portraiture.

"You got a face that was made for 15th Century Flemish Portraiture" is my go-to pickup line.
Also, I think the ones with the neck pillow are my favorite. Thanks for sharing this!

I love this. When my brain is really astonished/delighted by something, I often tear up (...I don't know); this project made me cry a tiny bit. Superb.

(The one with the headpiece crafted from a seat cover and her inflatable neck pillow is my favorite.)

Here's a related tip for frequent flyers: If the plane isn't completely full, you may be able to get a little more seat room by making a couple of puppets out of barf bags. Put on a play with them, and keep doing it until the person next to you finds a different seat.

Here's a related tip for frequent flyers

You might think this would work best on Southwest, but be careful. If you try this, they will make you purchase two more tickets for your friends.

Having just spent the last three days looking at various Van Eycks, Van Oosts, Memlings, Van Dycks, and Rubenses, I can say with some degree of certainty that she is not wrong.

I think this might be the first art-type art that I've enjoyed for a long time. It reminds me of the kind of rigorous silliness that sometimes used to turn up in the 80s (for example, Elya Kabakov). I'm definitely now a fan - thank you!
