Doesn't this elevate his risk of becoming an opinion columnist?

Just wanted to mention that I don't like Hardwick's podcast. Beyond a few people podcasts get really divergent and pretty much just full of boring quips. Though I find Culture Gabfest is very good because they put a lot of control on the topics (time limits, everyone says their peace). It's a hard target, but I can't really listen to podcasts that are just a bunch of quick quips that go on for 1.5 hours.

Let me go ahead get the usual bow tie snark out of the way for everyone in one comment: "All people who wear bow ties are Republicans, pundits, hipsters and/or all-around total prats. The nerve of those people!"

Seriously, though - It always warms my heart to see the bow tie cause furthered, although for actual learning purposes this is still the video to which I always refer people.

I know an undertaker who has a very similar anecdote about trying to help his nephew put on a tie; after multiple failed attempts while standing, he had the nephew lie down on the bed and had it done in a few seconds.

I'm an anarchist/communist, and I wear bow ties. Once you learn how, it's as easy as a regular tie, plus it doesn't get in your soup.

It is NOT like riding a bicycle, however, so if you haven't done it in a while, you may want to not wait until 5 minutes before your wedding to practice. Just saying.

For everyone else who doesn't like Hardwick's podcast (Nerdist), please consider Napierzaza's comment as the only one needed in this thread to express that sentiment. We now know that there are people who don't like it. This thread is now for those who do like it. And/or Bill Nye. Happily, I like both. Yay me!

As a bow tie wearer, I found the best way to learn was to tie it on my thigh a few times. That taught me better than watching a video with one eye, and the mirror in the other.

Nye was very funny and also gracious with that nitwit, whoever he was.

I love Bill Nye and I love to wear bow ties. For those who remain untied, this video is not all that instructional. I struggled for years trying to figure this out until I found the right YouTube video.

"All people who wear bow ties are Republicans, pundits, hipsters and/or all-around total prats.

You forgot dandies. I actually really like bow ties, they're formal without being uptight, they're friendly, disarming, and still relatively uncommon in most professional environments. It's the perfect flourish for someone in my line of work.

Republicans don't wear bowties. Republicans barely know how to dress themselves, and the furthest they deviate from the Sears catalog might be a pair of wanker cowboy boots or that awful goatee they all have now.

Are the wanker cowboy boots in a separate section from the regular cowboy boots?

Actually, sorry about that overly-eager, first-thought, completely unnecessary quip. I must have listened to too much Nerdist last night, my very favorite podcast.

You forgot Nation of Islam and the Freemasons and Ballroom Dancers.

In healthcare they also have the benefit of being more difficult for demented patients to use to latch on to you and are less likely to spread infections.

that awful goatee they all have now

I believe Sadly No! refers to that as the Wingnut Chin Mullet.
