I feel like this needs a warning of some kind, but I can't imagine for the life of me what that warning would be. posted by 1adam12 at 11:01 PM on October 14, 2012 [5 favorites]
Cool that Sister Deborah says at the beginning she likes both foreign and local bananas. It is good to see more people embracing local bananas. Large scale banana production has resulted in a startling lack of bio-diversity in bananas. Increasing knowlege of local producers and merchants such as Uncle Obama can only be a good thing. posted by Ad hominem at 11:11 PM on October 14, 2012 [12 favorites]
Silly, immature and pathetic on every level. FAIL.
She seems really excited about the shape of this Uncle Obama character's banana, but the banana isn't even for her. What devilry is this? posted by A Bad Catholic at 11:27 PM on October 14, 2012
The more I think about it the more it seems like this is a commentary on christian theologist Kirk Cameron'sBanana Argument. The basic argument is that bananas were created by god in the perfect form to be food for monkeys. She is clearly commenting on the shape and size of Obama's banana, pointing out that bananas were not created by god in their current form, but bred for shape and size by humans. Indeed, even after all this human tampering, monkeys still are happy to have them. posted by Ad hominem at 11:37 PM on October 14, 2012 [1 favorite]

The way she sings that line about her monkey is just too adorable to get hung up on the implications of the metaphor. posted by malapropist at 11:53 PM on October 14, 2012 [1 favorite]
I really hope this goes viral, so we can have Meet the Press and the New Yorker and NPR tripping all over themselves to report on this low brow 'phenomenon' in their typical high brow ways and get all it hilariously wrong. posted by spinifex23 at 11:57 PM on October 14, 2012 [1 favorite]

They're talking about bananas the same way Primus was talking about beavers, right?

Dear Deborah,
Thank you for your interest in my presidency, and in particular, in the size and shape of my "banana". I cannot give it to you for your "monkey", however, as that would anger Michelle and undermine my authority generally.

Wrong. I listen to lots of non-Western sources of pop music. I'm a professional musician. I just don't enjoy repetitive, silly crap that sounds like it is intended for third graders. posted by Seekerofsplendor at 11:57 AM on October 15, 2012
