With cutbacks in public funding, we're starting to see this kind of thing more and more.

Please donate because we have a cute dog. Please donate because there is a sick child here, who depends on public radio. Please donate because we are trying to save the last of the Mohicans, who has a sick child and a cute dog.

I swear I sent every last dime to the victims of Hurricane Sandy who have small Pomeranians with incurable illnesses. That's the best I can do. I care, I really care, but I don't have anything else to give.

When I was in college in the 80s, I got a shift on Halloween night. so I said I was going to play some dead songs. I found a bunch of songs with "dead" in the title and played them. About halfway through I started getting complaint calls, from people bitching about me not playing songs by the Greatful Dead, which was what they expected.

I then played "Touch of Grey" to placate them, which they hated even more.

I think if I'd had a Pomeranian it would have just made the hate greater. I wish now I had.
