My first thought is these look like a Family Circus comic showing what Jeffy did all day in his neighborhood.

Thanks, mathowie, now I can't see them as anything else!

Still cool, though.

God, Jeffy would so be Luke. Especially Luke at the beginning. I don't know if I've ever imagined what his voice would be like but it would certainly be whining about going into Tosche Station to pick up some power converters. What's that flashing, indeed.

Family Circus -> Star Wars Characters

Jeffy -> Luke
Billy -> Han
Dolly -> Leia
Barfy -> Chewy
P.J. -> R2-D2
Dad -> C3-PO
Mom -> Mon Mothra
Dead Grandpa -> Ghost of Obi-Wan Kenobi

(If you think siblings playing the part of Han and Leia is disturbing, the Family Circus Christmas strip this year will blow your mind.)

I say open it up to the whole comics page. Beetle Bailey as Wedge. Marmaduke as a Tauntaun. Dennis the Menace as Salacious Crumb. A3G Margot as Lando.

The little wampa and the little scout walkers being crushed by logs are brilliant.

These are absolutely excellent, and painstakingly precise.

No legend for the line colour, so you have to determine it from context. Which sort of makes it a fun game to follow along and figure out, "This line joins them in the cantina, so it must be Han Solo and Chewbacca."

I've only followed the lines for A New Hope so far. I love that Darth Vader's line twirls off at the end, but I'm pedantically bothered that it (and Han Solo's intervention) is so close to the start of Luke's trench run, rather than dramatically waiting a little longer.

Also, I did a break-down of the editing in the trench run, to explain why I'm pedantic about it.

Am I really to believe that Darth Vader followed Luke for over two minutes, yet traversed a fraction of the distance that Luke did in the 30 seconds following his rescue from Han Solo? Boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder.

Neat, I appreciate this as a Star Wars fan.
I will have to ask my GIS professor if he knows of a more specific name for Family Circus style maps.
I also await desjardins input. :D

RobotHero, I was looking for the twist in Han's path that represented his leaving then coming back to save Luke. I think it's a little 180 degree turn at the bottom of the map, but I found it underwhelming.

Also, in the Empire map, I'm puzzled by Bobba Fett's path, since I thought he tailed the MF through the asteroid field.

Of course, parsing through these details is why something like this is so much fun, so no criticism of the creators from me!

No, because it should be Mon Mothma.

These maps are awesome. WANT.

I kind of want to call these timelines or diagrams instead (or in addition to) maps. I don't think they are exact representations of physical space.

More dotted line nuttiness in the similarly titled: Bil Keane: An Appreciation.

He didn't. Only started following them during their garbage-dump escape.

Also, the path of Shuttle Tiderium in Jedi seems overly circuitous. Perhaps it was done in order to convey extra distance, but it seems like the path could have simply lead downward from the rebel fleet to their landing on Endor.

Cute attention to detail: at the door of the shield generator bunker on Endor, R2-D2's path as he gets blasted 10 feet across the doorway is represented as a short blue arrow <-----

Should I feel ashamed that I had to look up "Mon Mothra"?

No, because as has been mentioned, I suck. I'd like to blame it all on the fact that I was so nerdy proud of myself for knowing all the Family Circus names without having to look it up so my brain was on auto-pilot. But that would be a lie. I was really just amused at how much I thought Mon Mothma did look like the cartoon version of Thel Keane and got ahead of myself.

But aside from that derail, what I should have said all along was how much I enjoy these. But not nearly as much as I enjoyed RobotHero's so-called pedantic breakdown. Because if there's one thing I like more than neat artistic maps, it's pretty pedantic charts.

To be honest, I would have had to look up Mon Mothma as well. Although I did recognize her once I saw a picture.
