Perhaps a bit too much Chappelle show for me in the past, but I kept expecting Lord Vader to break out with an "OOOOOOOOKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK" at the end.

With that out of the way, let me say that this wasn't even creative. Had it been an Emily Litella thing, with Vader misinterpreting everything said to him, it could have been funny. But Nooooo, the best they could do was have some guy (who didn't even sound like Vader) bark "What?" any time someone spoke to him. Lame.

I'm pretty sure that "What??" was lifted directly from a part of Vader's actual dialogue. It definitely sounds like one of the raspier James Earl Jones line readings from the first movie.

Without pulling out a DVD and checking, but just relying on the damage inflicted by hundreds of hours spent in the Centre Twin Cinemas in 1977, I am pretty sure that relevant word is Vader's reaction when the Millennium Falcon swoops in and takes out his wingmen in the trench.



Anyway, one was missing:

"Dantooine."

"What?"

"They're on Dantooine."

Holy shit. I had to pause :30 in because I could no longer see the screen through tears of laughter. Then I laughed for another two minutes straight, just anticipating what I would see when I unpaused the video. This was intensely funny to me, which may be, in part, due to how thoroughly I know this film (ricochet biscuit is right about the source). I laughed harder and better than I have for a long time. A long time.
Wow. Just: Wow.
