I was hoping to see hats made from 90's-era PDAs, but this is cool, too. posted by ZenMasterThis at 12:18 PM on January 10
The first time I tried to make that hat, I apparently measured my own head wrong, or I somehow shortened the band while I was weaving the fronds. A lot of work for something I couldn't wear, and I've never tried again. posted by CancerMan at 12:23 PM on January 10

oh man that was AWESOME!!!!! I can just imagine the callouses on their hands... rough enough to withstand getting cut by the fronds, doing this day and day on.
I'd like to make hats.
I think I'd like it even more than to train this guy to train tourists to make their own hats. posted by rebent at 4:26 PM on January 10
Hey, do people in different countries do different knots? Or does everyone do square, granny, and bunny knots? posted by rebent at 4:26 PM on January 10
