The Capital Children’s Choir began in 2001 when a small group of 10 year old girls asked Rachel to start a singing club in St. John’s Wood, London. Over the years, the little group continued to grow and currently involves well over one hundred children from around the capital.
The cover of Florence and the Machine is fantastic. Thanks for posting! posted by grimjeer at 5:26 PM on February 5 [2 favorites]
And I've been a fool and I've been blind
I can never leave the past behind
I can see no way, I can see no way
I'm always dragging that horse around
And our love is pastured such a mournful sound
Tonight I'm gonna bury that horse in the ground
So I like to keep my issues drawn
But it's always darkest before the dawn
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaaah
And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh woah
I am done with my graceless heart
So tonight I'm gonna cut it out and then restart
Cause I like to keep my issues drawn
It's always darkest before the dawn
...from a kid? Wow. Horrifyingly beautiful. Possibly wrong. Just what do they think they're singing about? posted by Toekneesan at 5:59 PM on February 5
Perhaps it's just that WERS wore me out and this is fresh, but I like this 10x better than the typical a capella cheeky cover. posted by mkb at 6:32 PM on February 5 [1 favorite]
And it is also less cheesy than Gregorian somehow. posted by mkb at 6:34 PM on February 5

I wonder why there aren't any boys singing. posted by Sokka shot first at 7:39 PM on February 5
Wow, this blows my previous favorite cover of Sweet Child of Mine (Luna) out of the water.
Also, Spiritualized really lends itself to this kind of thing. Sweet, innocent, sad, and orchestral.
Yea, that Florence and the Machine cover is fantastic indeed. What a great choir. No doubt there are one or two future stars in there. Thanks for posting. posted by Bartonius at 8:26 PM on February 5
I was in a choir between the ages of 9 and about 15, and it was an incredible experience from which I still draw many positives (you'd be surprised how often sight reading comes in handy!). The adults running this choir, and the parents, must spend an incredible amount of time making all of this happen, and I believe it's worth it.
