Make sure you watch it to the end...?

I loved his Aussie drawl.

He also restores vintage generators

Best thing I've seen on TV since the Breaking Bad finale. (But slightly more believable)

I always heard burn-in is a problem with plasma.

THE CARBON UNITS WILL PROVIDE V'GER WITH THE REQUIRED INFORMATION

I was sure this was going to be one of Photonicinduction's videos. That guy loves breaking things by overloading them, such as record players, motors, CRT televisions (300 kV!), vacuum cleaners, clothes iron, random odds and ends, etc. 50,000 amps through a crowbar? Why not. (His poor carpet!) He's most well known for tossing rocks into washing machines on the spin cycle causing them to hilariously self-destruct.

This thing is paced like a horror movie - just when you think he's at the peak of what he could do to it, he kills the power and calls for more.

Interesting how it starts to resemble an ant farm.

Does this guy have a Youtube channel?

This was fun. I did have Jeremy Clarkson's voice in my head at one point though, going "more powerrr!"

Um, does the damage depict the circuitry?
posted by vapidave at 3:37 AM on October 10, 2013

There's a circuit underlying the glowing dots in a flat panel display which resembles a grid or mesh (each color in a pixel sits at an intersection). I'm not well-educated in electronics, but I assume the burn-out looks the way it does because the electricity's literally burning the light emitters on the mesh, starting with the ones on the traces that are slightly heavier than the others.

Remember back in the 80s when they sold those novelty videotapes of like, a fire in a fireplace?

I want one of those of this.

The Etch A Sketch is reaching criticality!

I too was expecting this to be Photonic Induction. Not sure if I should be pleased that he's not the only person that crazy. I'm amazed the tv does so much interesting stuff though, rather than just popping a single component somewhere on the line and dying.

See, I warned you what would happen if we let Nikola Tesla design our next-gen game consoles.

That said, I'd still play it.

This would make a hilarious screen saver if it was filmed straight on.

I don't know if that was a joke, but yeah here's Aussie50's youtube videos.

My favorite is still Flamespin 3500 Ultra Edition First Test Run - Oh, THERE ARE FLAMES :D. Make sure you watch to the part where the fuel atomizes outside the drum and explodes.

Aussie50, PhotonicInduction and RODALCO2007 are all stand-up chaps, willing to do the important science.

Man, all the final result needs is a few deft brush strokes and a bit of color to round out a minimalist pastoral scene - I can already envision the meandering path through the middle, some tree trunks and tufts of grass on the lower right, at top right the beginnings of a roof for a little cabin, and a shaded mountainside at top left. I bet Bob Ross could've fixed that puppy up in a heartbeat.

And maybe a tree is here. Nice and whispy. He lives right here. Long, easy strokes. There you go.
