ottawa boy, obsessed with columbine, stabbed several people and slit his own wrists with a steak knife because he longed to be famous. "'We'd be on the phone or walking and he'd say, 'Seven days til Columbine, 11:21, six days til Columbine, 11:21', a witness said"

Ah, the essential element:

"We were so happy they tied up the series. You wouldn't believe how many times we played (the video game) NHL 2000, just countless hours on end," the witness recalled.

While this story is sad enough as it is, just think how much worse it could have been if the boy had access to firearms, like the Columbine killers. Another testament to Canadian gun control laws...

I just watched my Ottawa Senators blow their lead and lose in overtime to the Devil's Team, the Toronto Maple Leafs. I am pissed beyond description.

But, as an Ottawa native, let me say that this is one of those incidents that can only be chalked up to the ol' 15 minutes of fame, or in this case, infamy. Ottawa has had about 5 murders (or some ridiculous number) in its history, and this incident comes as a huge surprise to all of us.

What a stupid kid.
