I want to see the Paul Lynde/KISS one so bad and it won't play on iOS.

Sweet jeebus, trying to calculate how much of ABC's cocaine budget went to that Paul Lynde special.

That PSA: "Hey kids, a black witch costume is too hard for drivers to see, make it white!" WHITE IS NOT FOR WITCHES. Unless you are Glinda. But as a kid, I would have been all "pscht, don't be a jive turkey*, I ain't wearing a white witch costume!"

*authentic 70s slang!

Came for the Halloween candy poison/razor blade hysteria, was not disappointed.

We have the Paul Lynde special on DVD. It never fails to amaze. Margaret Hamilton AND WitchiePoo -- come on!

We were peaceable people, but we would have beaten up any kid in a Hollie Hobbie costume.

That Paul Lynde special is the 1970's in a bottle!

All that poor little girl wanted for Halloween was to be a witch. Instead, for safety's sake, she was forced to be a KKK version of Orko.

What the heck was wrong with us during the 70s? Did the Bicentennial go to everyone's head or what? After reviewing these historical documents, I cannot believe I survived that decade. Wow.

I always thought that the Lynde special was a Sid/Marty Krofft production (Witchiepoo!), but alas no. THAT would have locked it in as the 1970s time capsule.

I didn't realize how much mileage Paul Lynde got out of Bye, Bye, Birdie.

That Paul Lynde special is the 1970's in a bottle!

Or, as Orange Dinosaur Slide suggested, a vial.

See, when I watch these and realize they were, at the very least, the cultural background noise of the years many of my synapses were forming, it actually feels like it explains a lot.

*ahem*
All that cocaine in the '70s?

Disney's ESPN 2 to air Star Wars Halloween special.

Is coke still the choice of a new generation, or is it ice?

Say what you will about Paul Lynde, he is the *definitive* Templeton the rat.

Wouldn't a white witch costume just look like a KKK costume? I think I'd rather risk getting hit by a car.

Sure, it's easy to blame everything on all the coke, but to be fair, some of it was the 'ludes.

This post got a "Great Job, Internet!" from the A.V. Club.

(Before anyone lets it go to their head, it should be pointed out that the bar for entry isn't all that high.)

But at least it helps mitigate that dumb orange-peeling post I made a couple of weeks ago!

I'm watching the Paul Lynde Halloween Special and feel like I need to take a moment of silence in memory of all the sequins and double entendres that sacrificed their lives to bring us this cultural treasure.
I'm with MCMikeNamara: This explains so much about my childhood brain.
