Dr. Dre's Secret (Sequined) History; or, that show in 1983 that widened Dr. Dre's horizons.
Would agree with that. Fascinating material, but the thread is hard to follow.

I gotta say, the "(Sequined)" in the title is making all sorts of campy promises that the story does not fulfill.

I'd have much rather read the alluded to material on the real story behind the demise of Death Row records.

Take-away: early scenes are always more melting pot, and our need to categorize creates the rather arbitrary balkanization.

Yeah, this guy really tried to stretch a "hey, this guy saw Dre once at this one weird old club" tale into a thesis about how Dre was formed. I also liked hearing about the time and place, though.

Interesting read.
I assumed the "sequined" bit was going to be about Dre's early look (which was significantly more...ruffled than one might expect from the hardcore gangster MC he eventually became). Some other MC (I forget who) recorded a dis track that mocks Dre over this.
