We want plates is a Twitter account which shares people's pictures of food being served on things which aren't plates. What kind of things? Shopping trolleys, washing lines, and picnic tables as well as the more normal boards and slates. As seen on Huffington Post, Buzzfeed and many fine news sites.

The chip trolley was kind of cute.

I've had this thought for some time... we throw parties with lots of food, and I also happen to have a Lionel train set. I'm really trying to figure out how to marry the two of those (like have the train go around with the hors d'ouevres) but it never quite seems to work.

Invite smaller people and it'll work. Duh.

I'm just imagining horrible accidents like when trucks full of frozen pizzas overturn on the highway only much tinier.

Around here we've got a peanut-shells-on-the-floor steakhouse that uses hubcaps.

Mrs. Mosley and I took our five-year-old to see "Paddington" over the weekend. One of our favorite parts was Paddington's visit to see Jim Broadbent's character, who had a model train whose track crossed the coffee table and whose engine had a spigot to dispense tea. Cakes were hidden within one of the passenger cars. We both agreed we wanted that train for our house.

There's some pretty silly stuff in that twitter, but it's also hilarious watching followers go ballistic over being introduced to an ordinary Mason jar mug. And by ballistic I mean "@WeWantPlates whoever is responsible for that should be taken outside and shot with bullets made from their own shite."

Any threaded jar makes for a crappy cup because the contents often drip on you when you drink. Can't help but remember the Key & Peele soul food sketch.

I can't decide if I hate this more or less than my previous pet hate - giant plates with small food that has been coaxed into gently teetering towers of stuff with Nike-esque swooshes of sauce around the rim.

A slipper of bread would have me in hysterics. But surely that should be called a loafer?
I'll let myself out
