Did we really lose out with not getting more Tin Machine? I would contend that we did not.

I didn't expect to see Van Morrison's Saint Dominic's Preview on that list.

But it is and I am.

Mighty surprised, that is.

Is the list about albums that aren't officially available today in any form? Because...

XTC's Apple Venus is out of print? Wonder if my copy is worth something, I doubt that I listened to it more than twice since I bought it.

I'm genuinely bummed that David Bowie never made a sequel to 1.Outside.

How about Holiday For Pans?

I had no idea my Night on Earth cassette is a precious precious gift. And I have a CD copy of that Tav Falco album bought in a used record store in Atlanta many many years ago. (I love me some Tav Falco. Disappearing Angels is my favourite.)

This is a strange list insofar as it's presented as if most of these are rare albums, rather than just forgotten about. The highest priced thing on the list is 100 pounds, which really isn't much money in the world of rare records. I know of singles that sell for far more.

These are forgotten about, I think, rather than rare.

These are forgotten about, I think, rather than rare.

Isn't the common theme proper releases that are "not officially on sale" in any form, for more or less obscure reasons? I spotchecked a few in Spotify, and the only one I found there was Lotion's "Dear Sir", which is at least available for streaming (as also implied by the "Auto-generated by YouTube" blurb on the linked YouTube video).

Huh, I'd always thought Panther Burns was a guy with a cool nickname.

Anybody has a link to a readable copy of this list, rather than the crap laden, browser hanging split over 14 pages version Uncut seems willing to afflict their readers with?

(Also? No Tin Machine album is a lost classic.)

On November 18, 1872, Young made a painful decision and sacked him.

I had no idea that After the Gold Rush was actually recorded after the Gold Rush.

The "expect to pay" bit for Time Fades Away (the never-officially-released HDCD version) should be zero quid. It's torrented all over the place.

There's quite a bit of interesting stuff here, and a decent essay about Neil Young's depression while making Time Fades Away. It's a compelling story.

The part where everyone here seems to hate Tin Machine? I agree, I hate Tin Machine too. Their recordings sound overcooked.

What, no Late Greats' "Turpentine"?

What, no Late Greats' "Turpentine"?

I knew a guy who played in a band called "The Late Greats" and I didn't know where that came from until now.

(it makes sense they were definitely trying to be Wilco)

Only one rap album on the list, and it's New Kingdom?

Underrated, even slept-on? Sure.

But it's so thoroughly not-lost that you can buy a factory-sealed copy for nine bucks shipped.

Well, I didn't know about Rainy Day, so I'm happy.

I didn't know that Bill Drummond recorded an album with The Triffids.

I don't know that the Who's Join Together would be considered "great" by any stretch of the imagination. I owned the album, and the only track I would consider revisiting, even under duress, is Love Reign O'er Me, which was actually quite gorgeous. The rest merely proved how far away from their 70s roots the band had strayed.

It's hard to imagine that any live Who recording post-Moon would be worth listening to.

Happy to see "It's Time For..." on here, that's a very nice album. I wish I'd stolen it from my college radio station--I kind of doubt anyone there has played it since then. Thank goodness for YouTube.
