Ooh, thanks for sharing! I just wrote a piece on Potter (which hasn't been pubbed yet) and I find the scientific side of her life completely fascinating.

Thanks for sharing, yet another woman scientist ignored in her own time. I had vague recollections of Potter as a botanist, but didn't know any of the details.

Champion sheep breeder indeed; I read somewhere that at her funeral an old Lake District farmer came forward to say he knew nothing about any books, but that her death was an irreparable loss to people who cared about Herdwicks.
