Bruce Sterling on SXSW and a whole bunch more.... Bruce ranges far, talking about "commerce, global capitalism, competition, the profit motive, the real deal ... choking on advanced technology as if they'd swallowed a jalapeño" and how "net types like to catfight about whether blogging is the Way Forward or utter self-indulgence. Since it is almost certainly both at once, blogging is quite the hot topic." Chock-full-o'-goodness.

Cheers, stavrosthewonderchicken! Great post! I'd never heard about Bruce Sterling but I've now added him to my must-reads. I like his idea that commerce can't handle the Internet, rather than the other way round. Apparently, you do need to be a bit of an oldie, i.e. a book-reared kind of guy, to realize how wonderful the Web is. How the hell can all our twenty-somethings know what they're not missing?
I also liked the way he ordered his preferences: "Metafilter, Memepool, Boingboing.net, I'm on those blogs all the time." If you intersperse eons between MeFi and Memepool, add Nutcote, Bifurcated Rivets, Filepile, Kuro5hin, Plastic and Fark - not to mention certain notable Metafilterians' blogs - then you're away!
