I was thinking it would be more like late-period Loach, where the Rebels have extended discussions about land reform and sing old Alderaanian marching songs, while Stormtroopers push a bunch of moisture farmers and Wookiees about.

So there's been the Coen Brothers Star Wars, the Ken Loach star wars, the David Lynch Star Wars, the Wes Anderson Star Wars, Quentin Tarantino, Stanley Kubrick, and let us not for get the A-Team...

I'm guess that every identifiable oeuvre will eventually be repurposed towards a Star Wars mashup spoof. I look forward to the Luis Bunuel and Lars Von Trier Star Wars, myself.

I would like to see the Wong Kar-wai Star Wars.

I am pretty ignorant about Ken Loach but I have seen Raining Stones.

I'm not getting much of a Loachian feel here, more Benny Hill doing Ken Loach doing Star Wars.

I enjoyed that. "Return of the Judd, aye."

Nicely done.

Good of LeRoienJaune to share all those others, so we can survey the genre. If you ask me, the cutup previews are the least successful (Tarantino, Lynch), but the ones like the linked Loach, or the Wes Anderson one (and a little of the Coen), that subvert both sides of the mashup really excel.

Still, this is all a bit much. Begun they have, the social marketing campaigns.

I smell a Kermode Award!

Also, let us not leave out Han Solo, P.I.

For those who want a more Samurai-esque take on Star Wars: Akira Kurosawa has you covered. Star Wars aka The Hidden Fortress and it is delightful. Toshiro Mifune in everything!!

I liked the nice gender-swapping touch with Luke and Leia.

Sometimes it veered a bit into Bill Forsyth StarWars territory, but....
