"I think we’re just not used to seeing bodies this way."

I guess he never poked around texture resources in videogames, then.

They look like video game textures. Actually, they could probably be used as such, for torsos at least.

Edit: lmfsilva beat me to it.

I appreciate the artistry but I can't stop seeing them as faces. Stupid vacuous brain.

In 3d and VFX we call these "texture maps"...

I thought everyone who'd ever worked in an office had done this sort of thing with a xerox machine. You roll your face along the glass, timing contact to follow the lamp... but now that I think of it, I guess the lamps crawled along a lot slower back in the 80s.

Those are some serious scratch marks.

I like these a lot and really appreciate seeing stretch marks and freckles included. I have been playing the Sims a lot lately and have downloaded a lot of custom skin textures because I am That Kind of Player and they're all perfect and pristine. It's nice to see real photos like this which are so similar to how texture maps look without all the perfect.

"Photography tricks" seems like a good cover to display your human pelt collection.

Neat none the less, and double good on the imperfection of the models.

They really do look like they have been skinned and laid flat. I am remembering an article from some years back about a museum of preserved tattooed skins (donated postmortem, obviously), that many people found to be deeply disturbing.

Whoa check it out, you know Deepdream, the machine hallucination thing that finds dog heads all over everything? I accidentally did some of that with my mind just now on this one, I unintentionally zoned out and stared at it with eyes slightly defocused for 5 actual minutes, and it started getting SUPER realistic, perky ears at the top, fuzzy snout resting against the floor, eventually sharpened into a close-up face photograph of a Jack Russell Terrier giving you puppy dog eyes, until I finally looked away, and the first thing I saw was my ACTUAL dog giving me puppy dog eyes, which I'm not so sure how I feel about!

Anyway yeah, it's cool to see this being shown as an "art thing" separate from 3D graphics I GUESS, but I kind of want to use these on cylindrical products outside the art world, like as wraparound labels for cans you drink out of (either end is fun) or the plastic wrapper on a frozen turkey!

OR A BEACH TOWEL!!!!!! YES!

All I can think of is Hellraiser. The man is a Cenobite. I'm gonna go look at puppies now.

I was surprised how long it took for the Dr Who reference though.
