Key and Peele may have said their goodbyes to television, but they will soon return to the big screen in their first feature film "Keanu", whose red band NSFW trailer dropped today.

After the recent spate of celebrities joining the choir invisible, my heart sank when I saw #Keanu trending earlier.

I figure this will be a US-only release, right?...

Too much N word!

But that's just me.

That really is the cutest kitten ever. Would love to see a video of the tryouts for the part.

I enjoyed that trailer and expect to enjoy the movie.

Oh man all the action-movie kitten slo-mo shots are hilarious.

I love it when Key and Peele just play themselves.

Kind of a shock to see a movie that wants to make me laugh, instead of making me feel squirmy and queasy and expecting me to find that funny.

The Keys and Peeles have a movie?

I'm not comfortable with how Key and Peele embrace gun violence in their comedy. Maybe that's a part of the joke for them and I just don't get it, but it's really gross and weak to me how guns are their visual and storytelling shortcut whenever they need to depict conflict.

I mean, this looks like a remake of Baby's Day Out with a kitten and two black dads; why can't we have the same lowbrow, slapstick humor without the guns. There's plenty of precedent for that and they're surely clever enough to write a script where a gunfight isn't necessary.

It is also entirely possible that this is a 2 minute clip from a 90 minute movie, and they use their many talents to skewer the tropes of gun violence in film in the full length film.

They do have some history of taking on gunfight/standoff tropes.

Too much N word!

It seems like they are playing up the white-talking black guy thing, the N-word usage being a crutch because the characters are trying to fit in. Works for me.

Re: Key and Peele gunfights, this too.

My point is that this trailer drops the N-bomb three times and that's how it earned the red band NSFW trailer rating. Meanwhile there are at least two dozen shots of characters holding or shooting guns. But for Key and Peele gun violence totally cool and part and parcel of their comedy. Yeah, the N-bomb is offensive, but did it ever kill anybody?

A few funny bits in there but the laugh out loud moment for me was the George Michael thing at the end. He did that so perfectly.

So much kitten and George Michael. Father Figure when the kitten shows up killed me.

I agree with your point in general, but the movie actually appears to be more or less a parody of John Wick, the (very good, IMO) Keanu Reeves movie that consists of pretty much nothing except an adorable puppy and guns. It seems like they've added a healthy dose of their trademark subject matter of "what is blackness" into it, so it's not a straight parody, but it wouldn't come across as a play on Wick without guns.

I hope they put the pussy on the chainwax with this one!

For some reason, I really, really hope that Keanu himself makes a cameo. Like, he could be recreating his infamous sad-guy-on-the-bench photo and he catches a glimpse of the kitten and his whole face lights up.

Kittens grow up really fast right? So how many kittens did they have on set to deal with the inevitable growth spurts?

No, what it's really going to need is some of the Dinkles. Season six of Game of Thrones will have started by then so he'd be topical again.

I'm still having a hard time believing this is actually a movie and not a movie trailer sketch. These guys.

I'm torn. On the one hand, I really want to see this, because Key and Peele. On the other hand, there's an adorable kitten that looks to be in serious peril and I don't know if I can take the stress of worrying about it. Someone needs to watch the movie for me ahead of time and reassure me that the kitten comes out unscathed.

One of my most anticipated films of the year. It's directed by Peter Atencio, who directed almost all of the sketches for the TV show, and ive been waiting for him to take up a feature project for awhile.

Also, I'm not outright against K&P doing a Police Academy reboot, but I am happy that they're doing something like this first.

This seems like a real stride forward in cat video art. Usually cats on film look like they're just waiting for a chance to get away and relax; this kitten looks like he rules. I bet the cat wrangler spent a lot of time desensitizing him to the people in the film, the cameras, the sets, etc.

Is it time for a famous movie cat?

See, now I'm starting to think this is some kind of elaborate inside-Hollywood joke. This one has an IMDb page and a movie poster too.
