Alex: Donald Trump: His mega-rally was like a WWE wrestling match with more show tunes, less script and all the violence occurring in the audience, not the ring. But I was impressed by his ability to connect personally with a crowd that size.

Yeah. I feel like the reputation of the show has changed over time, and it's lost the edginess it originally had. Adding the mawkish "You Must Love Me" song to the film version didn't help - as if we're supposed to think of her as some tragic-romantic heroine?

I thought the responses about "media avails" were very interesting. Clinton and Sanders don't really need to be answering direct questions from reporters, so they don't make themselves available to reporters following the campaigns. Clinton's been stonewalling for months, and Sanders only pays lip service to reporters by showing up but not actually answering any questions. Meanwhile the Republican candidates are looking to shake things up in their primary so they're always happy to oblige the media, except of course when they're in front of voters trash-talking the liberal media.

For my half of the arrangement, I drove 1,100 miles across Iowa last week, where I attended four Hillary Clinton events on Monday and Tuesday, a Bill Clinton speech on Thursday, and three Bernie Sanders events on Friday. Alas, I was not able to work Martin O’Malley into the mix.In other words, this article is a microcosm of the race as a whole.

I like Bernie Sanders just fine, and he is a good man, but I fear that a Sanders versus Trump match up would be McGovern versus Nixon all over again. In the general, Trump would paint Sanders as soft, as over his head on foreign policy, and out to lunch on with socialist economics in the same way that Nixon clobbered McGovern. (On the other hand, if Sanders wins the presidency, then the danger is that his presidency will much like that of President Carter, but I would still prefer that to a Trump or Cruz victory.)

In response to the article: This is why I think a Bloomberg run in the event of a Sanders v. Trump race is a potential spoiler for both candidates. There are going to be fiscal conservatives, anti-populists, economic royalists, and just play moderate Republicans who are afraid of Donald. The National Review would rather vote for Bloomberg (or stay at home) than vote for Trump. And of course in the previous thread many have already discussed that he'll also have a spoiler effect on Sanders.
In response to your question: depends on if anything will happen with Hillary's emails or Cruz's eligibility. Very unlikely, but both ways for them to disappear from the race as suddenly as Jeb has.

Don't knock Evita; it's a much better show than people remember. It's tuneful, cynical, politically sharp...

Beyond the fact this this is an utterly bizarre sentiment to project in service to a political campaign, I was just saying the other day that I don't really have strong feelings about the Stones either way - except that I specifically hate "You Can't Always..." because the absolute worst ornament you could add to a rock song is a children's choir. SO OF COURSE HE CHOOSES IT.

I'm guessing he's got it in there for the "get what you need" part; as in, he's what America needs and everyone else is pandering to you trying to tell you you'll get what you want. It's a twisty bit of logic to follow, but his whole campaign has twisted logic beyond the failure point anyways.

The website, which is nothing more than a single page with stock photos and a credit card donation form, claims that “100% of your donations will go directly to Veterans needs.”
There’s only one problem: 100% of the money raised on the site goes directly to Donald Trump’s personal non-profit foundation, according to a disclosure listed at the bottom of the page.
So, I don't know how it works in the US, but in Canada if a non-profit raises or receives funds for a specific, designated purpose, we have to be able to show that the funds went to that purpose. I'm hoping somebody is going to keep an eye on the Donald J. Trump Foundation's disbursements?
