Christmas Music for People Who Hate Christmas Music

Want the humbugs to hum along? Amelia has been making Christmas mixes for a long time. She started sixteen years ago with cassettes. CD-Rs forced her to adopt another technology. Now she has adopted Mixcloud which loses a bit of personalization, but more of us can benefit can benefit from her good holiday music selections.

Looking through, there are some smart picks here - I have to admit when I read the post title I immediately thought first of Lux and Ivy of the Cramps' Black Christmas mix, though.

I don't know how to find the mix but my favorite anti-Christmas song is Stupid Bells by The Handsome Family. "The candy cane is Satan's walking stick!"

Thanks for this. Christmas music that does not suck, and is also Little Drummer Boy-free, is a welcome refuge from the usual dreck.

When I go to the Wordpress site, under each entry I'm seeing Amazon links to purchase, but nothing to hear the mixes. What am I missing?

The mixes are above the tracklists.

To be clear, Mixcloud doesn't do things in terms of a playlist, like Spotify. It's one long mix meant to be listened to from beginning to end. There is also no going backwards in the mix (presumably for IP/licensing reasons). I really love the site and have been using it more lately.

Not in my browser window (Chrome), they're not. And I don't think I'm blocking a Mixcloud widget, this is the first I've ever heard of the site.

Yeah, not in Firefox either.

People having trouble: Some of them seem to be showing up on my browser, and others not. Go directly to the page where they all live, which doesn't have the tracklists but does have the mixes: https://www.mixcloud.com/christmasmix/

*Notes Bobby Helms version of "Jingle Bell Rock." Acknowledges Amelia's impeccable taste.*

I quite like Sufjan Stevens' Songs for Christmas.

I was all, "yeah, what'evs" at the selection of almost 100% American music in the first mixes, but then I saw a Beatles mix, a sexy mix, and what looks to be a super awesome HEAVY mix.
Good stuff.
