“Oh, that’s that goddamn egg thing.”

Cris Shapan has an amazing ability to produce memorabilia which seems authentic. His most devious effort is probably the story of Marlon Brando and Joe Flynn's Eggs.

More examples can be found in this interview at Dangerous Minds, and even more at his Facebook repository of Spurious Key Art. He also posts videos at Funny Or Die under the handle Clarington Shpoo.

Some of these are classics and have been floating around the interwebs, usually uncredited, for years. But their depth and quality, and to see all of them all in one place is pretty impressive. As someone who has created a few, somewhat similar fake vintage magazine covers and ads over the years I'd say his output and sheer stamina (I get too bored to make more than one or two a year) is to be admired. Thanks for the post!

Dang. It looks like you need a Facebook account to see a couple of the links, sorry. I'll see if they're available elsewhere.

I dropped Cris a note about it.

Did nobody make the connection between Joe Flynn and this classic?

That is frighteningly well done.

Dang, I love this. The story of Joe Flynn's eggs -- all those Hollywood royalty (and B-list hangers-on) sitting around a kitchen table of a Sunday morning -- is the kind of thing I use to just live for as a kid in SoCal.

And you know Wally Cox would totally blow the whole thing by blabbing to Brando ...

Wait, I apologize, but since November, I'm having trouble discerning fiction and reality. So, am I right in believing that Chris created, in toto, the entirety of the Joe Flynn Eggs thing, yes?

That's correct, SAS.
